USSSA NJ Baseball Refund Policy
Withdrawal, Cancellation & Refund Procedures for USSSA NJ Baseball
USSSA NJ understand that unforeseen circumstances, especially injuries, roster defections, player availability, etc. can occur over the course of a season. Teams should plan for the unexpected and understand that events sell out or reach max registration weeks and month before an event, forcing USSSA NJ to turn teams away. Also, the scheduling process starts several weeks before an event is scheduled to take place.
When a team withdraws prior to an event:
The following conditions apply if the event is not currently at max registration. If the event has reached max registration, no refund will be given unless a replacement team is found.
· If a team withdraws 30 days or more before an event: A full refund shall be given.
· If a team withdraws 15-29 days before an event: A refund less a $100 withdrawal/administrative fee shall be given.
· If a team withdraws less than 15 days prior to the event USSSA NJ will attempt to find a replacement team, up until 48 hours before the event. If a replacement team can be found prior to 48 hours before the start of the event, a 50% refund shall be given.
No Refund shall be given if:
· If a team withdraws within 14 days of the event and a replacement team cannot be found.
· If a team withdraws within 48 hours of the event: No refund is given regardless if a replacement team would be found. It is the responsibility of the team to notify the tournament director that they are not able to participate.
Refunds for cancellations or shortening of an event:
While USSSA NJ Baseball and our Host Partners will make every attempt to play each event, weather and other unforeseen circumstances may prevent an event from being completed or in some cases, even starting. There is a great deal of preparation and work that goes into planning and preparing for tournaments. In those cases:
For Tournaments:
· 0 Games Played: 100% refund, minus an administration fee will be given to teams that do not start any game in an event.
· 1 Game Played: A 75% refund.
· 2 Games Played: No refund.
USSSA NJ Baseball reserves the right to adjust this policy at any time to accommodate unusual circumstances.
Pay at the Plate
Umpire Pay at the Plate
NEW PAY-AT-THE-PLATE UMPIRE PROCESS
WHY ARE THE TOURNAMENTS A LOWER COST AND WHAT’S THE NEW PAY-AT-THE PLATE UMPIRE PROCESS?
USSSA NJ Baseball is adopting the pay-at-the plate umpire system that is the norm in many parts of the country and at most elite level events.
Each team pays cash to the umpires at the home plate meeting prior to the start of the game.
Umpire fees are no longer included in tournament registration fees.
The USSSA director will pay the umpire fees for the championship game.
For standard tournaments with 2 umpires per game, each team will pay one umpire $60 cash (no checks or CC) at the plate in separate envelopes.
There are no refunds after the start of the game.
WHAT ARE THE WAYS THAT THE NEW PAY-AT-THE PLATE UMPIRE PROCESS WILL BENEFIT MY TEAM?
By utilizing pay at the plate we are able to lower the upfront cost of the tournament. This allows teams to register early and not have to put out a lot of money at the beginning of the season thus allowing them to register for more tournaments. This is especially beneficial for those teams that utilize a payment plan for team members.
Rainouts/Shortened tournaments. When a tournament gets shortened due to weather, teams will no longer be losing money for those games not played.
Teams that underperform during bracket play will no longer pay umpire fees for teams that advance and play more games.
USSSA NJ Baseball appreciates your continued business as we go through this period of change and growth. If you have any questions or concerns about the new process, please feel free to contact us. Our customer service team is happy to assist you.
